The last being the Nikon D810, which I found very helpful.

On your medium format reviews, I am not a subscriber, however the comments I referred to were posted on public forums, both Luminous Landscape and Getdpi In fact it appears that a lot of your early Fuji Review in some form or fashion has been either directly quoted or has been abridged on LuLa.

I am the photographer who instructed Jim Kasson, that it was possible to check for focus shift with the Fuji system. He had cancelled his order based on reading information which implied it was not possible. I have found that there has been a lot of mis information posted on this camera however I do apologize for using your name directly on my site, and I have edited my original post to reflect this.

No camera is perfect but this one seems to have been placed under way too much scrutiny.

That’s a low blow and unethical.

Comment on 08/20/16 Trouble at F-Stop? I’ve also read that their lead designer has quit the company. Maybe someone will chime in and have more information on their current status.

It is fairly minor and actually somewhat better than the Nikon 20 mm f/1.8, see my comparison with test shots:

Yes, that would be possible, but would require a bit of work in post. The 20mm 1.4 coma is a bit less than the 24mm, by 1.8 which is where I tend to use mine. The bigger issue is the DOF, which at 1.8 is very shallow, so for my shooting in Arkansas, I tend to need to bracket for focus as I like to work in landscape elements.

It’s a great lens and well worth the investment for sure.

The exposures could be taken at f1.4, with the ISO set low, at 800 or 1600. This would seem to be particularly effective when using a high resolution camera like the Canon 5DSR.

Last night as my wife walked our dog the thing was maybe 20 feet a way. We are not sure what kinda of large predator cat this is, but in the last few months dogs have been disappearing. If anyone would like to come out here and set up cameras or hunt it down please contact me. The Neighbors have small children who play outside and I fear something bad might happen.

A family of them lives in some caves in the area. We also have both the mountain lions/cougars and black panthers in the area.

Thanks for the post. Over time I agree the quality will improved at least for the camera, optics, maybe another story, at least for the average flyer.

Having said that, I find it amazing that anyone would claim that a MFT or smaller sensor would out-perform a PhaseOne!

Thanks for the comment, I have started working with Piccure+ and C1 Fuji Conversions and getting better results, but I still feel the C1 conversion needs more sharpening.

Two of us were staying in the shelter and had fallen asleep. Right at midnight we were woken up by a horrible screaming coming from just behind the shelter. We instantly suspected a big cat because of how it was screaming. My friend immediately fired 3 rounds into the air as warning shots to attempt drive the cat away. Instead of the cat leaving it screamed again which we interpreted as a challenge and that it was not going to give ground easily. We then waited inside the shelter, armed with a 9mm pistol and a 22 survival rifle. After a while the cat began to move and we could see it was starting to circle the campsite. Thankfully it did not come any closer and eventually left. Shortly after that a big thunderstorm moved into the area. My theory is that the cougar wanted to use that shelter to get out of the storm and was not happy when it found us there. Stay alert in the woods.

With v. C1Pro 8 have Capture better results as LR. But I use my own presets only for X-trans files. Special for indoors and outdoors photos.
I have cameras Canon 6D and Fuji X-T1.

My wife spotted a very large black cat with green eye shine . She said it stood taller than our golden retriever on the left side of the road in some very tall grass and brush. She identified it as a black panther from pictures online. Never realized they had been spotted in Arkansas until this occurred but research revealed that many people had seen them in our state. Wow !!!!

Yes I tried Photo Ninja early on. I agree the conversion is better, i.e. more clear details. However the conversion leaves a strange effect in my files, I can’t put good words on it, however I see it in the finer details. I also agree the toolset is very lacking.

For now I am using Iridient mostly, and saving out as a tiff, then working the file in LR. I do very little to the image in Iridient besides the actual raw conversion.

If I have images for HDR, or Pano, I still work them up from the start in LR.

Thanks
Paul C
