04/18/25–Looks like Trump’s Tariffs are much ado about NOTHING in regard to photography equipment.

What will the Trump Tariffs mean to camera pricing

Well, since the 9th, it looks the Great One’s huge Tariff threat has turned out to be pretty much nothing. Go figure. At least for camera equipment, but I have also heard the same appears to be true for foreign made cars/trucks.

For example Hasselblad is only increasing two lenses, the 45P and 75P around 10%. I am assuming that the reason the 45P and 75P have an increase is since they 100% made in China and the tariff for products imported from China is 145% or 154%, I can’t remember the number that Rump last threw at the wall..

Fuji did announce that they would hold off shipping new orders for the GFX100-RF which I can understand as currently there are none of them in the US. I am sure they can make up for the loss of the U.S. orders by selling a few more in the other countries around the world that seem to be able to get along better than how the U.S. does.

B&H and Adorama have not increase the pricing on anything yet. This includes all Japanese cameras like Nikon, Canon, and Fuji and German made like Lecia. I have not reached out to anyone at B&H, as they are still closed for the Easter Holiday period.

For now it seems that most of the companies involved in the 10% tariff increase had enough markup in the current pricing to eat the 10%. Someone has to pay this for sure. I have also heard that Toyota is not going to pass on the 10% or 25% tariffs to all the vehicles made outside of the US.

As usual with most of Rump’s bluster, this whole exercise has done nothing more than just cause more friction between the US and all of our current trading partners.

Here is a link to an article by Capture Integration which explains their current understanding of this situation.

It seems that only Phase One is going to have much of a price increase, around 3%.

Note that every year Leica seems to have around a 5% increase across the board on their cameras. So far this year there has not been anything. But that also may be due to the issues of the tariffs.
